Something the game loads in the background causes a spike in virtual memory that crashes the game. Most people say it indeed happens just 'while exploring' which was also true for me. I don't think the issue has anything to do with GPUs at all actually.Īnd yeah, I can't really see an easy pattern to these crashes as of yet either. And you have 64 GB RAM and this is still happening so it's clearly not something that can be solved by just getting more RAM.Īs for our rigs, the only similarity I can see is that we both have 30-series RTX graphics cards but people are reporting CTDs with lower and higher tier graphics cards as well so that's probably not related. The game was using outrageous amounts of RAM ever since launch and whatever they did with the recent update seems to have made it worse to a point where it's now crashing peoples' games. I read it along but for me it happens when I'm just out exploring. In the main quest I am on the first mission/quest when it has become winter, and 80% in the field guide. But can't see any pattern, different places, different length of time played etc. But it is probably a RAM related problem. So it's probably not what I thought it was, a build up gradually. Then suddenly it quickly rose to over 40,000MB and crashed to desktop. i have no problem with the graphics anymore but the memory was around 12000-13000MB for about an hour and everything flowed fine.
